August 9, 2010 – San Diego, Ca – San Diego Boca FC today announced a partnership with Vigilucci’s Restaurant Group, a San Diego based Italian Restaurant chain operator which owns and operates several local restaurants in San Diego County including Coronado, Carlsbad, La Jolla, Leucadia and Encinitas.

Souheil Jawad, Chief Operating Officer commented, “We are very excited to have this newly formed partnership with Vigilucci’s Restaurant Group. Vigilucci’s Restaurant Group owns and operates several local restaurants in San Diego County. Vigilucci’s will be the official restaurant for San Diego Boca FC club 2010/11. In August 1996, just months after Major League Soccer played its inaugural game, then-commissioner Doug Logan said San Diego was a “prime candidate” for expansion — that it was more of a when, not if, proposition.

In 2000, new MLS commissioner Don Garber removed San Diego from a list of potential expansion cities and said “it’s certainly not the hot market it once was for us.”

The Gold played well enough to hold off Boca FC's constant attack throughout the match as the final ended 3-2 Gold.
